BE THERE OR BE SQUARE!

Hey Chicks in Aprons....it's time to make something pretty again! Our monthly get together will be held on Thursday, November 13 at 10:30 a.m. April, that's moi, will be hosting this month's craft at her (well my) house! Our felt leaf garlands turned out so adorable and are so cute hanging on our mantles that we have decided that we will definitely need something to replace them come Christmas. But do not fear, we will not be sewing or cutting felt this time. We are going to be working with scrapbook paper and ribbon to make equally adorable Paper Banners.

Emmie Cakes sells these type of banners on her blog and here is a sample of the style we will be making.

or a double type banner like this one.....

I'm not sure we will be able to re-create the scalloped edges, so we will make ours square with rounded corners. I think this craft will be pretty easy and you might even have time to create two...one for you and one for a gift! Feel free to pick whatever saying you want for your banner and/or banners. Some ideas are Christmas, Merry Christmas, Joy, Believe, Wish, Peace, and one of my favorites HO HO HO. For those of you non-scrapbookers the easiest way to find coordinating papers is by visiting the local scrapbook store, The Scrappers Depot, or by buying a pack of paper from Target in the scrapbook isle. Here is your supply list.

Supplies:

1" to 1-1/2" wide ribbon for garland

coordinating smaller ribbons for tying the letters together (3-4 different kind)

12x12 solid card stock paper for the background (1 piece per 4 letters of whatever word you choose)

12x12 coordinating scrapbook paper for layering (1 piece per 4 letters of your word)

12x12 solid card stock paper, to match or compliment background card stock, for lettering (again...depending on your word you may need anywhere between 1 to 4 pieces of 12x12 paper)

12" paper cutter (if you have one)
adhesive runner or glue stick
Cricket (if you have one)
corner cutter (if you have one)
hole punch
scissors
a few dollars (I will have some embellishments available if you would like to add some to your banner)

Have fun shopping for your paper and use the comment section below if you have any questions. Also, please RSVP in the comment section. Hope you can come!
